Words with Elizabeth: exploring the domestic violence narrative between abuser and victim

‘Words with Elizabeth’ is an autoethnographic and intuitive stitching project, in which I attempt to give voice to my childhood experience of domestic violence. The project also attempts to honour the voices of other women and men in my family, who were also affected by domestic violence. I have combined my poetry with words and phrases that are often found in the domestic violence narrative. These words and phrases are all personal and stitched in their original context. I have used a worn vintage women’s apron as canvas and backdrop.
